Fused Glass Pendant

Dichroic (DIE-CROW-ICK) glass, discovered by bead makers in the early 1990’s, has rapidly become a favorite medium for glass artists. The material is valued for its ability to reflect intense light without producing a glare; it has been around for years, used widely in space industry, medical and photographic applications. For all its beauty and appeal it can be a touchy medium to conquer and an expensive one to experiment with. I enjoy the fusion of glass because it reflects the processes of integrating heat (the internal fire that creates the earth) and sand (where the ocean meets the earth). A powerful force capture in glass.
I cut, design, and then clean the glass before fusing. To fuse I assemble and then fire the completed designs in a kiln with temperature ranging from 1350-1450 degrees Fahrenheit. Different temperatures and the number of firings can create different slumping and color effects, which can be seen in my unique designs. Nae Nae Designs are signature piece and no two are the same*
